The Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) 2025 provides grants to support farmers in England with purchasing equipment to improve animal health and welfare. Here’s a summary of the application process:
1. Check Eligibility – You must be a FARMER with cattle, sheep, pigs or chickens, registered in England with the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) and have a Single Business Identifier (SBI).

2. Application Window - Applications open on 29 May 2025 and close at midday on 10 July 2025. The fund is competitive, meaning not all applicants will receive funding.
You can increase your application score by 20% if you provide evidence that you’ve discussed your application with a vet.
3. Choose Items – You can apply for animal health and welfare equipment from an approved list. Items mustmeet the minimum specification and be new or ex-display.
Mudcontrol slabs come under the item code FETF273:
Expected average cost of item (£): 11
Grant amount (based on a quantity of 1) (£): 5
Score: 20
Item must:

be protective matting for range or pasture to prevent livestock poaching around gateways or water troughs

be rubber or plastic
-
be perforated for drainage
-
have a minimum thickness of 15mm
Turf reinforcement meshes or netting are not eligible.
Cost per square metre.
4. Submit Application – Applications are made online through the FETF portal.
5. Approval & Purchase – If successful, you’ll receive an offer email. Once you have received an offer, you canpurchase your items. You must purchase and install the equipment before claiming the grant.
6. Submit Claim – Provide proof of purchase (invoices, photos, etc.) to receive your grant payment.
