MUDCONTROL SLABS?

Mudcontrol slabs measure 50cm x 50cm x 5.3cm each, weigh over 7kg each and can be used in two ways: closed (holey) side up or open (grid) side up. Both sides have their specific applications and are ideal in different situations.

CLOSED SIDE UP

The traditional way to use our slabs to create dry areas is with the closed side up, providing high slip resistance.

OPEN SIDE UP

Ideal when a thicker tread layer is required. The grid design within the slabs will hold water and prevent the top surface from drying out too quickly.

HEAVY DUTY GROUND STABILISING SLABS

The slabs interlink securely and require no substructure, ensuring quick and easy installation of a stable slabbed area, anywhere that mud is a problem.

Our slabs stay on top of the mud, and can be lifted and moved elsewhere, or left in place for decades, allowing you to change and adapt your mud-free areas at will. You aren’t burying your investment.

MINIMAL GROUND PREPARATION

Just level the area (fill any holes, remove big stones) and lay the Mudcontrol slabs. No substrate is usually required, just slot our slabs together to create stability in minutes, even on top of sloppy mud - they are the sub-base and base in one.

HIGHLY DURABLE AND VERY STRONG

The slabs weigh 28 kg per square metre (7 kg per slab) and are rated to more than 60 tonnes when properly installed which makes them ideal for the heaviest of farm traffic.

DESIGNED TO BE SLIP RESISTANT

The closed side is moulded with two types of nub. The combined pattern, especially when topped with sand, provides high slip resistance for foot, hoof and vehicle traffic.

ENABLE NATURAL SURFACE DRAINAGE

The securely interlinking slabs allow free drainage, preventing the ground underneath from being churned up or compacted due to heavy use, protecting your ground.

Please allow any Animals / Livestock time to acclimatise to any changes in ground surfaces. Once the slabs have been laid, we recommend filling the holes with sand or another water permeable material. For general use, but especially with all-season open stabling, we recommend a finishing layer of sand, as per the manufacturer's installation instructions.

Please be aware in certain circumstances of extremely waterlogged ground and where liquid mud is on the surface, the mud will come up through the holes in the slabs, this is normal. You will need to scrape this off the surface, the same is true of mud carried onto the surface by traffic. The slabs will still provide a solid platform and stop you sinking in the mud.
